AstroKnoppix


AstroKnoppix is based on Knoppix - a LiveCD distribution, which has a lot in common with Debian. It focuses on astronomy-related software, and is surprisingly fast on low-end machines.

Minimum requirements:

  • i486 class ( Intel, AMD ) CPU
  • RAM:
    • text console -  20MB,
    • above 64MB for GUI
      • about 84MB for KDE
      • 128MB for OpenOffice.org
  • CD/DVD (floppy in case of machines that do not support CD-boot)
  • SVGA
  • mouse

Recommended configuration:

  • Intel Pentium II 400MHz
  • RAM: 128MB (GUI without OpenOffice.org running)
  • CD/DVD 24x
  • 8MB GPU
